Benelux’s largest partnership of independent transport and distribution companies selects BluJay’s cloud TMS for 21 depots
Dordrecht, NL – 29 October 2019 – TransMission, a partnership of transport and distribution companies in the Benelux, has made the choice for a new Transportation Management System (TMS). After a long pre-selection, TransMission has entered into a commitment with BluJay, to deploy its Transportation Management platform.
The reasons for choosing BluJay are threefold. Firstly, TransMission was looking for a cloud solution to help ensure an optimal and secure infrastructure and cost reduction. Secondly, the current system, developed in-house and on-premise, was outdated. The last reason was decisive in choosing BluJay and lies in the complexity of TransMission’s network and the desired professionalisation.
TransMission is the largest partnership of independent transport and distribution companies in the Benelux and comprises a total of 21 depots. A large part of this is owned by TransMission’s shareholders and another part is owned by strategic partners. Thanks to this cooperation, TransMission is able to offer an extensive 24-hour service in almost the entire Benelux.
Raymond Cools, Director at TransMission, explains: „It concerns 21 depots in the Benelux, all of which need to be able to exchange information easily with each other, but also partly have their own working methods. And that is what we want to make IT technically uniform. Few parties can achieve this, so we are very happy that we have found a good partner in BluJay.“
It is important that customers, partners and end customers are fully, correctly and on time informed about the status of their shipments. This is not easy given the volume of more than five million shipments that TransMission transports on an annual basis. However, the real complicating factor lies in the multitude of depots that all work according to a reference process, but of course all add their local working methods. In addition, it is necessary to fill in TransMission’s central database in a uniform manner and to give the available information back to the shippers.
TransMission will also use the integrated scanning application MobileSTAR alongside BluJay’s TMS. With this mobility application, the data obtained from drivers and warehouse personnel via hand terminals will be made accessible and entered into the central database, after which it will be shared among the various depots.
The sorting process (via the sorters present at the depots) is also controlled in this way from BluJay and MobileSTAR.
In addition to improved transparency for customers, colleagues, and end-customers, TransMission also expects to increase efficiency by implementing the new Transportation Management platform. The explanation for this lies in the fact that the available data can be converted into information fairly quickly, so that KPIs can be monitored and specific reports can be delivered fairly quickly.
Roel Assies, Vice President Sales at BluJay says: „TransMission processes around five million unique shipments per year and they are likely to continue to grow significantly. A strong TMS is really essential. We are very proud that BluJay can support such a great partnership, consisting mainly of family businesses, with our logistics solutions.“
TransMission and BluJay expect to implement the entire project over the next year.
